A man pretending to be an Indian Air Force officer lured a woman from Gujarat with a bogus recruitment promise and extracted Rs 1.95 lakh.

A resident of Gujarat was approached by an individual who claimed to be an officer of the Indian Air Force. The fraudster offered her a lucrative posting in the force, assuring swift processing of the recruitment formalities.
He requested a payment of Rs 1.95 lakh as a “security deposit” and for completing the alleged paperwork. The woman, hopeful of a stable government job, transferred the amount through a bank transaction.
After receiving the money, the impostor disappeared, and the victim reported the incident to local authorities. Police have opened an investigation into the case, warning the public against similar recruitment scams.
The incident underscores a rising trend of impersonation frauds that exploit the aspirations of job‑seekers, especially in the defence sector. Officials from the Indian Air Force have reiterated that no such payments are required for recruitment and have urged citizens to verify any communication through official channels.
