Maharashtra’s 480 Mandals Compete for ₹1.5 Cr in Ganeshotsav 2026 Prizes

The Government of Maharashtra has announced a competition for its 480 public mandals to showcase their Ganeshotsav celebrations in 2026. A total prize fund of ₹1.5 crore will be distributed among the best‑designed pandals, with the winner receiving the largest share.\n\nThe contest aims to encourage creativity, cultural preservation and community participation across the state. Mandals will be judged on design, thematic relevance, use of eco‑friendly materials and overall presentation.\n\nIn addition to the prize money, the state is pursuing UNESCO World Heritage recognition for the Ganeshotsav festival, hoping to highlight its cultural significance on a global platform.
