For Dhanteras, the Mahalakshmi Temple at Manak Chowk in Ratlam is being decked out with cash notes and gold‑silver ornaments, with a few thousand devotees already contributing funds.
The historic Mahalakshmi Temple situated in Manak Chowk, Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, has begun an elaborate decoration for the upcoming Dhanteras festival. Organisers are using high‑denomination currency notes and gold‑silver jewellery as part of the temple’s festive display, a practice that draws large crowds during the Diwali season.
According to temple officials, between two and three thousand devotees have already deposited cash to fund the adornments. Contributions are being collected in a dedicated treasury, and the accumulated amount is expected to cover the cost of the lavish embellishments.
The initiative aims to create a visual spectacle that reflects the traditional belief of offering wealth and prosperity to the deity. The temple plans to open the decorated darbar to the public shortly before the Dhanteras day, allowing worshippers to view the opulent setting and seek blessings for financial well‑being.
