Madhya Pradesh to Launch Undergraduate Physiotherapy Courses in All Govt Medical Colleges

On World Physiotherapy Day, the Madhya Pradesh government reaffirmed its 2023 decision to introduce undergraduate physiotherapy programmes across all state-run medical colleges, citing the need to modernise healthcare education.
Bhopal, Sep 8 (Amar Ujala) – In a statement released on World Physiotherapy Day, the Madhya Pradesh health department reiterated its commitment to roll out undergraduate physiotherapy courses in every government medical college across the state. The move, first announced in 2023, aims to align medical education with emerging technologies such as robotics, virtual reality and artificial intelligence that are reshaping physiotherapy practice worldwide.
The department highlighted that the new curriculum will be integrated with existing medical programmes, allowing students to gain hands‑on experience with advanced therapeutic equipment. Officials said the initiative will address the growing demand for skilled physiotherapists in both urban and rural health facilities.
However, the rollout has faced delays, with several colleges still lacking the infrastructure and trained faculty required for the modern syllabus. The health ministry has promised additional funding and partnerships with technology providers to bridge the gap, urging institutions to expedite preparations before the next academic session.
Stakeholders, including student bodies and professional associations, welcomed the policy but urged swift implementation to prevent a widening educational disparity. The government has set a target to have the full suite of courses operational by the start of the 2025‑26 academic year.
