The state government has opened an investigation into a suspected scam where four companies, linked by a common controller, allegedly supplied outdated computers at inflated prices.

The Madhya Pradesh Department of Information Technology announced that it is probing a possible irregularity in a recent procurement of computer hardware for government offices. The investigation focuses on four firms that reportedly share a single controlling entity.
According to preliminary findings, the firms supplied computers that were several years old, yet the purchase orders reflected prices comparable to brand‑new equipment. The discrepancy has raised concerns of financial loss to the exchequer.
The probe, led by the state's anti‑corruption cell, will examine tender documents, payment records and the ownership structure of the firms. Officials said any persons found culpable could face legal action under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The department has suspended further procurement from the implicated companies pending the outcome of the inquiry and has urged other state agencies to review their own purchase processes.
This case adds to a series of recent procurement controversies across Indian states, prompting calls for stricter oversight and transparent bidding mechanisms.
