The Madhya Pradesh police will audit the promotion records of about 250 officers, with a fresh review that could demote more than 15 DSPs.

The Madhya Pradesh police department has announced a fresh review of recent promotions to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

The audit will examine the service records of roughly 250 officers, according to a statement issued by the state police headquarters in Bhopal.

Among those under scrutiny are three officers who share the same name and were promoted under similar circumstances, as well as several other officials flagged for possible irregularities.

Police officials said that if the review uncovers procedural violations, more than 15 officers could face demotion.

The exercise follows earlier concerns about the transparency of promotion processes and is expected to be completed by the headquarters, after which the findings will be communicated to the affected officers.
