From October 1, the Employees State Insurance Corporation will extend coverage to thousands of workers across 24 districts of Madhya Pradesh, enhancing their access to medical care.
The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) announced that, beginning October 1, a new health coverage scheme will be rolled out for workers in 24 districts of Madhya Pradesh. The move is aimed at expanding the safety net for informal and formal sector employees who previously lacked adequate medical benefits.
Under the scheme, eligible workers will receive cashless treatment at ESIC empanelled hospitals, access to specialist consultations, and coverage for a range of diagnostic tests. The eligibility criteria focus on workers earning below a specified wage threshold, ensuring that low‑income earners receive the greatest benefit.
State officials indicated that the initiative is expected to cover several hundred thousand beneficiaries within the first year, reducing out‑of‑pocket expenses and improving overall health outcomes in the region. The rollout will be coordinated with district health authorities to streamline registration and awareness drives.
Implementation will begin with a digital enrollment process, allowing workers to register through a dedicated portal or at local ESIC offices. The government has pledged regular monitoring to address any gaps and to expand the scheme to additional districts in the future.
