The Madhya Pradesh High Court has ordered the termination of a Rs 30,000 monthly financial support to a wife, citing the husband’s declared income of Rs 1.5 lakh.

In a recent judgment, the Madhya Pradesh High Court ruled to discontinue a monthly payment of Rs 30,000 that had been provided to a wife. The decision was taken after the court examined the husband’s financial disclosures, which indicated an annual income of approximately Rs 1.5 lakh.

The bench concluded that the husband’s earnings were sufficient to meet his family’s needs without the additional state‑sanctioned support. Consequently, the court deemed the continued alimony unjustified under the prevailing financial circumstances.

Legal experts note that such rulings underscore the judiciary’s focus on aligning spousal support with the actual earning capacity of the parties involved. The order sets a precedent for similar cases where the claimant’s income is modest but above the threshold for state‑assisted maintenance.
