The Madhya Pradesh government has approved a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for its staff and pensioners, effective January 2026, with nine months of arrears to be cleared.

The Madhya Pradesh cabinet has sanctioned a 2% rise in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for all state government employees and pensioners. The decision was announced in a recent circular issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms.

The hike will take effect from 1 January 2026, and the state will also settle nine months of arrears that accrued after the previous revision. Officials said the arrears will be credited in the upcoming payroll cycle to ensure that beneficiaries receive the full amount without delay.

According to the finance department, the increase is intended to offset rising living costs and align state salaries with the latest central government recommendations. The move is expected to benefit roughly 1.5 million employees and retirees across Madhya Pradesh.

The government has urged pensioners to check their bank statements after the first payroll of 2026 to confirm receipt of the revised rates and pending arrears.
