The Madhya Pradesh High Court directed the state’s chief secretary to promptly fill five of the ten approved vacancies and to rule on more than 27,000 pending second appeals within 60 days.

The High Court of Madhya Pradesh issued a binding order to the state’s chief secretary, instructing him to take effective steps to appoint personnel to five vacant positions out of ten that have already been approved. The court highlighted the administrative backlog and emphasized the need for swift action to ensure the functioning of the concerned departments.

In addition to the vacancy issue, the court set a strict timeline for adjudicating the massive docket of second appeals. More than 27,000 appeals are currently pending, and the bench directed that a decision be rendered on the petitioner’s plea within 60 days from the date of the order.

The directive underscores the judiciary’s role in monitoring state employment processes and aims to reduce the prolonged delay that has affected both the government machinery and the aspirants awaiting appointments.
