The Madhya Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) has initiated a stringent crackdown after audits of 35 construction projects across seven districts revealed serious quality deficiencies in roads and government buildings.
Contractors and the supervising officials responsible for the identified works have been served notices directing immediate corrective action, with a clear warning that failure to comply could result in blacklisting.
The inspection also raised safety concerns related to flood‑prone areas, especially the structural integrity of bridges and culverts, prompting the department to issue an alert for enhanced monitoring during the monsoon season.
Department officials emphasized that the measures aim to safeguard public safety, enforce existing construction standards, and restore confidence in infrastructure projects.
Further monitoring will be carried out, and additional legal or administrative action may be taken if the prescribed improvements are not implemented promptly.
