A young man from Habowal in Ludhiana died by ingesting poison after family disputes involving in-law harassment and his wife's alleged affair, leaving a video and suicide note detailing the conflict.
Ludhiana, Punjab – Police recovered the body of a 20‑something resident of the Habowal locality after he was found dead from poison ingestion on Monday. The deceased, identified only as a local youth, had reportedly been under severe stress due to ongoing disputes with his in‑laws, who he claimed were harassing him, and rumors of an extramarital relationship involving his wife.
Investigators say a suicide note and a short video were discovered at the scene. In the note, the young man described feeling trapped by continuous abuse from his wife's family and alleged betrayal by his spouse, stating that he saw no other way out.
The video, which has been handed over to the authorities, reportedly shows the victim speaking about the family conflict before drinking the poison. The police have opened a case under the state's suicide and homicide provisions and are questioning relatives to verify the claims made in the note.
