Students from a school in Latur have contributed Rs 2 lakh to the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support drought‑relief efforts in the state.
Latur, Maharashtra – A group of students from a local school in Latur collected and handed over a donation of Rs 2 lakh to the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, earmarked for drought‑relief measures across the state.
The donation comes as large parts of Maharashtra continue to grapple with severe water scarcity, with several districts reporting below‑par rainfall and depleted groundwater levels. The state government has been channeling funds to provide emergency water supplies, support farmers, and implement short‑term irrigation projects.
School officials said the contribution reflects a growing sense of social responsibility among young people, who organized fundraising activities within the school and the surrounding community. The funds will be merged with the existing relief pool to augment ongoing assistance to drought‑affected regions.
