Former Karnataka chief minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has urged the Karnataka Public Service Commission to delay the KAS exam slated for 15 November until the commission undergoes a clean‑up.

Bengaluru, Nov 8 — H.D. Kumaraswamy, leader of the Janata Dal (Secular) and former chief minister of Karnataka, publicly demanded that the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) postpone the Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) examination set for 15 November. Kumaraswamy said the commission must first be "cleaned up" to ensure fairness and transparency in the recruitment process.

The demand was voiced during a press conference in Bengaluru, where Kumaraswamy highlighted recent allegations of irregularities and political interference within the KPSC. He warned that conducting the exam without addressing these concerns could undermine public confidence in the state's civil services.

KPSC officials have not yet responded to the request. The commission is expected to release a formal statement in the coming days, and the exam schedule may be reviewed if the allegations are substantiated.

If the exam is postponed, aspirants who have already paid fees and prepared for the test could face delays in their career plans, a point Kumaraswamy acknowledged but deemed secondary to the need for a clean and impartial selection process.

The issue adds to ongoing debates about governance reforms in Karnataka, with opposition parties pressing for greater accountability in state institutions.
