Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh is a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly representing the Langate constituency. A former government teacher who opted for voluntary retirement to enter public service, he transitioned into full-time politics ahead of the 2024 regional elections. He is the younger brother of prominent political figure Sheikh Abdul Rashid, commonly known as Engineer Rashid, a member of parliament from Baramulla who previously held the Langate assembly seat for two consecutive terms. In his electoral debut during the September–October 2024 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, Sheikh contested the Langate seat as an Awami Ittehad Party (AIP)-backed candidate. He secured a victory with 25,984 votes, defeating his closest competitor, Irfan Sultan Pandithpuri of the People's Conference, by a margin of 1,602 votes.
