Senior leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi appealed for swift rescue and relief measures as floodwaters continue to inundate parts of Bihar.
Heavy rains have caused rivers in Bihar to overflow, submerging villages and disrupting daily life across several districts. Roads and bridges have been washed away, leaving thousands stranded and in urgent need of assistance. Local authorities have deployed rescue teams, but the scale of the disaster is stretching resources thin.
During a press briefing, senior Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi urged the central and state governments to accelerate relief operations. They highlighted the immediate need for food, clean water, medical aid, and shelter for the displaced families, and called for a coordinated rescue effort to reach remote areas.
The state government has announced additional funds and mobilised the National Disaster Response Force, while the central government is being pressed to release further assistance.
