V.D. Satheesan, a prominent Kerala politician, asserted that Kerala remains a progressive state while addressing concerns over Saudi returnees and rising conservatism, during a recent interview with Shashi Tharoor on News18.

V.D. Satheesan, a senior leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala, spoke to News18’s Shashi Tharoor about the state’s social dynamics. He emphasized that Kerala’s long history of social reforms and inclusive policies continues to make it a progressive model for India. The politician highlighted the growing concerns over Saudi returnees, noting that many of them face challenges reintegrating into Kerala’s workforce and society. Satheesan warned that unchecked conservatism could undermine the state’s progressive trajectory, urging policymakers to address these issues proactively.
