A Kerala government panel has recommended that workers in hazardous jobs receive free medical examinations and has urged the inclusion of safeguards for women under the state's new labour codes.

A committee set up by the Kerala government has put forward a set of recommendations aimed at improving the health and safety of workers in high‑risk occupations. The panel has called for the provision of free medical examinations for employees engaged in hazardous jobs, ensuring early detection of work‑related ailments.

In addition to health measures, the panel has highlighted the need for stronger safeguards for women workers under the state's newly enacted labour codes. The recommendations stress that the codes should explicitly protect women from workplace discrimination and provide mechanisms for reporting violations.

The panel’s proposals are expected to be tabled before the state legislature, where they will be debated and potentially incorporated into the final labour code legislation. The move follows growing concerns over worker safety and gender equity in Kerala’s industrial sectors.

If adopted, the measures would mark a significant step toward aligning Kerala’s labour policies with national standards for occupational health and gender protection.
