Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that West Bengal will recruit 27,556 personnel, assuring a fair and transparent selection process.

Kolkata, West Bengal – Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari disclosed that the state government will open recruitment for 27,556 positions across various departments. The announcement, made during a press briefing, emphasized that the hiring will follow a strictly monitored, merit‑based procedure to eliminate any bias.

The recruitment drive is expected to cover roles ranging from administrative and technical staff to support services, aiming to bolster the state's workforce and improve service delivery. Officials said detailed guidelines, eligibility criteria and timelines will be released on the official government portal within the next few days.

Adhikari assured candidates that the process will be conducted through a transparent online application system, with independent oversight committees overseeing each stage. He urged eligible youth to apply, highlighting the opportunity as a step toward inclusive employment generation in the state.

The government plans to conduct written examinations, skill assessments and interviews as part of the selection. Successful candidates will be appointed on a contractual or regular basis, depending on the nature of the post.

Stakeholders, including trade unions and civil‑society groups, have welcomed the move, noting that a clear, fair recruitment framework can address long‑standing concerns over irregularities in public‑sector hiring.
