Kerala Landslides Claim Six Lives Amid Red Weather Alert

Heavy rainfall in Kerala has triggered a series of landslides that have claimed six lives, prompting immediate rescue operations across the affected districts. The state government has declared a red weather alert, signalling the severity of the situation.

Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan has directed state authorities to mobilise rescue teams and provide necessary relief to those displaced by the landslides. He urged local police and disaster management officials to prioritise search and rescue efforts in the hardest-hit areas.

Rescue teams are working to clear blocked roads and reach isolated villages, while medical teams are on standby to treat the injured. The government has also requested assistance from the National Disaster Response Force to support the ongoing operations.

Officials have warned residents to stay away from low-lying and flood-prone areas until the weather stabilises. The state is monitoring the situation closely and will update the public as more information becomes available.
