A group of Karnataka ministers began a dharna outside the Election Commission’s Bengaluru office, demanding clarification on recent voter deletions.

Earlier today, several ministers from the Karnataka state cabinet gathered outside the Election Commission’s regional office in Bengaluru and started a dharna to protest the recent removal of names from the electoral roll. The protestors positioned themselves at the main entrance, holding placards that highlighted concerns over the transparency of the deletion process.

The ministers allege that the deletion of voters, many of whom are senior citizens and first‑time voters, was carried out without adequate notice or justification. They have called for an immediate review of the list and for the Election Commission to provide a detailed explanation of the criteria used for the deletions.

Officials at the Election Commission’s Bengaluru office declined to comment on the specifics of the protest, stating that the matter is under internal review and that any official response will be communicated in due course.

Political analysts note that the protest underscores growing tensions between state leaders and the Election Commission ahead of upcoming local elections, and it may influence voter sentiment in key constituencies across Karnataka.
