BJP leader Pratap Simha said he is an admirer of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and denied any anti‑Dalit remarks attributed to him.
Karnataka BJP legislator Pratap Simha responded to media reports that he had made anti‑Dalit statements, asserting that the claims are unfounded. He emphasized his long‑standing respect for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, describing himself as an "admirer of Ambedkar" and saying his record reflects that stance.
Simha said no derogatory remarks were made by him against Dalit communities and that any such interpretation is a misrepresentation. He urged political opponents and the press to focus on factual reporting rather than sensationalism.
The clarification comes amid heightened sensitivities around caste issues in the state, where leaders are often scrutinised for their language. No legal action has been reported, and the party has not issued a separate statement beyond Simha's remarks.
Political analysts note that the episode underscores the delicate balance Karnataka politicians must maintain when addressing caste dynamics, especially ahead of upcoming electoral contests.
