J&K to Roll Out Ujh Multipurpose Project in Phases, Minister Jitendra Singh Reviews Progress

The Jammu & Kashmir government announced that the Ujh Multipurpose Project will be implemented in phases, with Minister Jitendra Singh reviewing its progress during a recent visit.
The Ujh Multipurpose Project, aimed at harnessing the Ujh River for irrigation, hydroelectric power and flood control, has been slated for a phased implementation by the Jammu & Kashmir government.
According to the plan, the first phase will focus on constructing the primary dam and spillway, while subsequent phases will add auxiliary canals and power generation units. The phased approach is intended to spread investment costs and allow for adjustments based on early results.
During a recent visit to the project site, Minister Jitendra Singh inspected the construction progress and met with engineers and local officials. He noted that the groundwork for the main dam is largely complete and that the project is on schedule.
The ministry said that after the completion of the initial phase, a detailed review will determine the timeline for the remaining stages, with the goal of delivering full operational capacity by the end of the decade.
