The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed the renewal of a passport for a resident pursuing a medical degree in Iran, enabling him to continue his studies abroad.

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court issued an order on Monday to revive the passport of a local student who is currently enrolled in an MBBS program in Iran. The court’s decision came after the petitioner sought relief, claiming that the suspension of his passport was hampering his medical education abroad.

According to the court’s ruling, the passport will be reinstated without any further conditions, allowing the student to travel as needed for his studies and related examinations. The bench emphasized the importance of uninterrupted education for Indian students pursuing professional courses overseas.

Legal counsel for the petitioner welcomed the judgment, stating that it upholds the right of citizens to seek higher education abroad without undue administrative hurdles. The High Court’s order is expected to be implemented by the passport office within the next few days.
