The Jammu and Kashmir Finance Department announced that OTPs for the PROOF citizen‑services app will now be sent through the Sandes messaging platform, streamlining verification for users.
The Finance Department of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a circular stating that one‑time passwords (OTPs) used for the PROOF mobile application will be delivered via the Sandes messaging app instead of the previous channel. The shift is effective from the date mentioned in the notice and applies to all users accessing PROOF services across the union territory.
PROOF, a state‑run platform, enables citizens to obtain various certificates and clearances online, reducing the need for physical visits to government offices. OTP verification is a critical step to ensure the authenticity of each transaction and to protect user data.
Sandes, a widely used messaging service in the region, was selected for its higher delivery reliability and broader user base. Officials said the integration will minimise failed OTP deliveries and speed up the overall processing time for applications.
The department has advised users to update their Sandes app to the latest version and to ensure that notifications from the Finance Department are not blocked. A helpdesk number and email address have been provided for any technical assistance required during the transition.
