Teachers of JD Women’s College gathered outside the campus in Patna to protest the recent affiliation with Mata Sita University and called for the repeal of the Bihar Special University Act.

A group of faculty members from JD Women’s College assembled outside the college premises in Patna on Monday, demanding that the recent affiliation with Mata Sita University be withdrawn. The teachers argued that the affiliation, approved under the Bihar Special University framework, could compromise the college’s academic autonomy and standards.

The protestors carried banners and placards citing concerns over the rapid expansion of special universities in the state, which they say lack adequate oversight. They also called on the state government to repeal the Bihar Special University Act that enables such affiliations without thorough peer review.

College administration officials declined to comment on the specifics of the affiliation but confirmed that discussions with the university are ongoing. The protest remained peaceful, with no reports of arrests or clashes.

Education department sources indicated that the matter is likely to be reviewed by the state’s higher education council in the coming weeks, as several other institutions have raised similar objections to special university affiliations.
