The Jammu and Kashmir government has cleared the allocation of land to set up mobile phone towers in regions that lack adequate network coverage.
The state government announced approval of land parcels for telecom operators to erect mobile towers in underserved parts of Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to improve connectivity. The decision, reported by Kashmir Life, follows a long‑standing demand from residents and businesses for better signal strength in remote valleys and hill stations where service is spotty. Officials said the land will be provided on a lease basis with minimal fees, aligning with the central government's Digital India and 5G rollout objectives. Telecom companies have been invited to submit proposals, and the government expects the first towers to be operational within the next few months, boosting internet access for education, health and commerce.
