Jaipur shuts public transport around Govinddevji Temple on Janmashtami, urges metro use

Jaipur municipal authorities announced that on September 4, the day of Janmashtami, all public transport services will be suspended in the vicinity of the Govinddevji Temple. The decision covers buses, auto‑rickshaws and other city‑run vehicles that normally operate around the temple complex.\n\nThe move comes in response to the expected surge of devotees gathering to celebrate the festival at the historic shrine. Officials anticipate a dense crowd that could strain traffic management and safety arrangements.\n\nTo mitigate congestion, the city has asked worshippers to use the Jaipur Metro, with the nearest station providing direct access to the temple area. Entry to the temple will be permitted only through Jaleeb Chowk, allowing better control of the flow of visitors.\n\nTransport officials confirmed that the temporary ban will be limited to the temple’s outer wall perimeter and will be lifted after the festival concludes. They also urged commuters to plan alternative routes and to follow the guidance of police and municipal staff on the ground.
