Jaipur CID-CB Arrests Man for Selling Fake Gold Statue Using Counterfeit Notes

Jaipur’s CID-CB arrested Abdul Kadir after he attempted to sell an ashtadhatu statue for ₹3.10 lakh, falsely claiming it was an ancient gold idol. Police recovered counterfeit currency used in the deal.
The CID-CB team laid a trap after receiving information about a fraudulent deal involving a statue. Posing as bogus buyers, officers approached Abdul Kadir who had arrived to sell the artifact. He was taken into custody on the spot.
During the interaction, Kadir claimed the statue was made of ancient gold and demanded ₹3.10 lakh. Investigators later confirmed the idol was actually an ashtadhatu (eight‑metal) piece, not gold. The suspect had arranged to receive payment in counterfeit currency.
Police seized the fake notes and the statue, and have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is underway to determine if Kadir is linked to similar frauds elsewhere.
