A cheetah cub found injured in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, was transferred to Kuno National Park where officials suspect it was struck by a vehicle.
Wildlife officials in Madhya Pradesh reported that a cheetah cub was discovered injured near the town of Morena on Monday. The animal appeared to have sustained trauma consistent with a collision, prompting immediate concern among forest department staff.
The cub was carefully captured and transported to Kuno National Park, the country's flagship site for cheetah reintroduction. Veterinarians at the park are providing medical treatment and monitoring the animal's recovery, while keeping the cub under quarantine to prevent disease transmission.
Preliminary investigations suggest the cub may have been hit by a vehicle, although a detailed forensic examination is underway. Authorities have urged local residents to remain vigilant and report any wildlife sightings that appear abnormal, emphasizing the fragile status of the newly reintroduced cheetah population in India.
