Indore shuts major roads from 3 PM for Ganesh procession on Anant Chaturdashi

A three‑layer police deployment has been activated in Indore from 3 p.m. on Anant Chaturdashi, closing Rajwada and other key routes to ensure smooth flow of the Ganesh procession.
Indore has begun preparations for a large Ganesh procession scheduled for the evening of Anant Chaturdashi, a major Hindu observance marking the end of the Ganesh festival. The city’s municipal authorities have announced that a three‑layer police deployment will be in place from 3 p.m. to manage crowds and traffic.
Under the plan, several arterial roads, including the historic Rajwada thoroughfare, will be completely closed to vehicular movement. Alternate routes have been pre‑designated and communicated to commuters through local media and traffic alerts. The multi‑tier police presence is intended to clear any congestion quickly and to safeguard the procession’s route.
Organisers expect millions of devotees to line the streets as the decorated Ganesh float makes its way through the city centre later in the evening. The authorities have urged residents to use the prescribed detours and to avoid the restricted zones during the closure period to minimise disruption.
City officials have reiterated that the security measures are standard for large religious gatherings and that they will be lifted once the procession concludes, allowing normal traffic to resume by nightfall.
