Indore secured the second spot among Indian cities in the Clean Air Survey 2026 and was honoured with the National Clean Air Appreciation Award in New Delhi.
Indore has emerged as the second‑best city in India for air quality, according to the Clean Air Survey 2026 released earlier this week. The ranking places the city among the top three nationwide, reflecting significant improvements in pollutant levels over the past year.
The achievement was formally recognised at a ceremony held in New Delhi, where officials presented Indore with the National Clean Air Appreciation Award. The award highlighted the city's concerted efforts in expanding green cover, upgrading public transport, and enforcing stricter emissions standards for industries.
City officials said the results validate the multi‑pronged strategy launched in 2022, which combined tree‑planting drives, real‑time air monitoring, and public awareness campaigns. They pledged to sustain the momentum and aim for the top position in future surveys.
Environmental experts noted that while the progress is commendable, continued vigilance is essential to address seasonal spikes in particulate matter. The government plans to roll out additional measures, including stricter vehicle inspection protocols and incentives for cleaner fuel adoption.
