Thousands of devotees from Indore travelling to Ujjain for the opening of Nagachandrashiv temple were caught in a crowd crush, causing a severe traffic jam on the Indore‑Ujjain highway.
On the third Monday of the Sawan month, a large group of devotees from Indore set out for Ujjain to attend the opening ceremony of the Nagachandrashiv temple. As they approached the city, a sudden crowd crush formed on the Indore‑Ujjain highway, trapping many pilgrims and causing a significant traffic jam.
Traffic police reported that the congestion lasted for several hours, with vehicles stalled and commuters forced to wait in the heat. The incident occurred near the main entrance of the temple complex, where the influx of devotees overwhelmed the available space.
