The smoking zone at Indore’s Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport has been reopened following passenger objections, and a fresh five‑year contract is being tendered with bids opening on November 3.

Indore’s Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport has reinstated its designated smoking area after a wave of passenger complaints that the zone was closed without prior notice. Airport officials said the decision was taken to address the concerns raised by travelers who rely on the facility during long layovers.

The earlier operator’s contract for managing the smoking zone expired, prompting the airport authority to launch a new tender for a five‑year period. The tender documents will be opened on 3 November, inviting bids from qualified service providers.

Reopening the smoking zone is expected to improve passenger satisfaction while the upcoming tender aims to ensure a transparent and competitive selection process for the next service partner, aligning with the airport’s broader effort to upgrade amenities.
