The Vehicle Factory in Jabalpur has rolled out a new 450 BHP, 4×4 light armored multi‑purpose vehicle for the Indian Army, completing trials in the challenging terrain of Leh‑Ladakh.

Jabalpur's Vehicle Factory has unveiled an indigenous light armored multi‑purpose vehicle designed for the Indian Army. The new platform is powered by a 450 horsepower engine and features a robust 4×4 drivetrain, enabling it to negotiate difficult terrains.

Built with ballistic protection, the vehicle is intended to provide enhanced survivability for troops operating in hostile environments. Its modular design allows for rapid role changes, from troop transport to reconnaissance missions.

The prototype underwent a series of rigorous trials in the high‑altitude region of Leh‑Ladakh, where extreme weather and rugged topography test the limits of any military hardware. Officials reported that the vehicle performed within expected parameters, demonstrating reliable mobility and protection.

With successful testing concluded, the defence establishment is expected to move toward limited series production, aiming to equip frontline units with a domestically produced, versatile combat vehicle.
