The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board has cleared a 1,800‑kilometre LPG pipeline project valued at Rs 7,000 crore, aiming to enhance fuel distribution across the country.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has given formal approval for a new LPG pipeline network spanning 1,800 kilometres, with an estimated investment of Rs 7,000 crore. The authorization marks a significant step toward expanding the country’s liquid petroleum gas infrastructure.

The extensive pipeline is expected to link major consumption hubs, reducing reliance on road transport for LPG and improving safety and efficiency in fuel delivery. By creating a dedicated pipeline corridor, the project aims to lower logistics costs and ensure a more reliable supply to households and commercial users.

Implementation will proceed in phases, with the regulator overseeing compliance with safety and environmental standards. The approved budget underscores the government’s focus on modernising energy distribution networks to meet growing demand.
