The state cabinet has given the green light to an Rs 8,000 crore railway line linking Katghora and Dongargarh, while announcing that the government will begin purchasing paddy from November 15.

The Chhattisgarh cabinet has approved a new railway corridor connecting Katghora and Dongargarh, with the project valued at Rs 8,000 crore. The decision was taken during a recent cabinet meeting, signalling the state’s commitment to expanding its rail infrastructure.

The approved line is expected to enhance connectivity across the region, facilitating smoother movement of passengers and freight. While detailed project timelines were not disclosed, officials indicated that the corridor will be integrated into the existing network to boost economic activity.

In the same announcement, the state government said it will commence the purchase of paddy from farmers starting November 15. The procurement scheme aims to provide a stable market for agricultural produce ahead of the upcoming harvest season.

Both initiatives are presented as part of a broader effort to stimulate growth in Chhattisgarh, combining infrastructure development with support for the agricultural sector.
