Several Indian states have set up dedicated helplines to assist citizens trapped in flood‑hit areas of Nepal, offering information and rescue coordination.
Heavy monsoon rains have caused severe flooding in parts of Nepal, leaving thousands of residents, including a number of Indian nationals, stranded without basic services. The cross‑border disaster prompted immediate concern from Indian authorities, who began tracking the whereabouts of their citizens in the affected zones.
In response, a number of Indian states have activated toll‑free helplines specifically for those trapped in Nepal. These numbers are intended to provide real‑time information on evacuation routes, shelter locations, and medical assistance, as well as to relay distress calls to Indian diplomatic missions and rescue agencies.
The state helplines are being coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu to ensure a seamless flow of assistance. Officials have urged stranded Indians to register their details with the embassy and to use the newly launched numbers for any emergency support.
