After nearly eight decades, Indian Railways has finally linked a remote town to the national network with a 1,628 crore rupee project.

Indian Railways has inaugurated a new line that connects a remote town to the national railway network, marking the first such link since the country’s independence 79 years ago.
The 1,628 crore rupee project was financed jointly by the central and state governments and involved extensive tunnelling, bridge construction and track laying.
Officials say the new line will open up the region to markets, improve access to education and healthcare facilities, and create employment opportunities.
A ceremonial inaugural train will run shortly, with local leaders and residents celebrating the milestone.
The opening of this line is seen as a significant step in bridging the connectivity gap for remote communities across India.
