India monitors Nepal floods, puts NDRF on high alert in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

Severe monsoon rains have triggered extensive flooding across Nepal, displacing thousands and damaging infrastructure. Indian authorities are monitoring the situation closely, given the proximity of the affected river basins to the Indian border. In response, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been placed on high alert in the neighboring states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to prepare for any potential cross‑border impact or secondary emergencies. Coordination teams from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the disaster management cells of both states are on standby, ready to mobilise resources if required. The move reflects a precautionary stance aimed at safeguarding vulnerable communities in the border districts while the flood situation in Nepal continues to evolve.
