The India Meteorological Department has warned that rainfall may continue across Chennai and 23 districts of Tamil Nadu throughout the week, urging residents to stay prepared.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory indicating that rain is likely to persist over Chennai and a total of twenty‑three districts in Tamil Nadu for the coming days. The alert, released on Monday, cautions that showers could range from moderate to heavy, depending on local conditions, and may lead to water‑logging in low‑lying areas.
Authorities in the state have been instructed to monitor river levels and drainage systems closely, and to activate emergency response teams where needed. Residents are advised to keep away from flood‑prone zones, avoid unnecessary travel during peak downpours, and stay updated through official channels.
The IMD will continue to issue periodic updates as the situation evolves, with the next bulletin expected later in the week. Meanwhile, local administrations are coordinating with disaster management agencies to ensure that relief measures are ready if the rains intensify.
