The India Meteorological Department has issued a rain warning for Bengaluru and four districts in Karnataka, urging residents to stay prepared for heavy showers.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released a weather advisory today, flagging the possibility of significant rainfall across Bengaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Chikkamagaluru. The alert, part of the department’s routine monitoring, cites an approaching low‑pressure system that is expected to bring intermittent downpours over the next 24‑48 hours.

Authorities have advised commuters to exercise caution on the roads, especially in low‑lying areas prone to waterlogging. Public transport agencies are on standby to adjust schedules if needed, and residents are urged to clear drainage channels and avoid unnecessary travel during peak rain periods.

The IMD reminder also highlights that while the forecast calls for moderate to heavy rain, the intensity may vary locally. Farmers in the coastal districts are cautioned to protect crops, and schools in the affected zones have been told to monitor the situation before making any closure decisions.

Overall, the department stresses that timely preparedness can minimise disruption and safeguard life and property as the weather system moves across the state.
