IDA raises rent for Rahul Gandhi's 'Students' Goonj' event to Rs 14 lakh

The Indore Development Authority increased the venue fee for Rahul Gandhi's 'Students' Goonj' rally from Rs 10 lakh to an additional Rs 4 lakh, prompting the Congress to allege deliberate obstruction by the administration.
Indore Development Authority (IDA) has revised the rental charge for the venue where Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to hold his 'Students' Goonj' rally. The authority initially demanded Rs 10 lakh and subsequently added a further Rs 4 lakh, bringing the total fee to Rs 14 lakh.
The additional demand was issued shortly before the event, prompting the Congress party to deposit the full amount as required. Party officials, however, contend that the sudden increase was intended to create administrative hurdles.
Congress leaders have publicly accused the IDA of deliberately obstructing the rally by inflating costs, describing the move as a tactic to impede the gathering. The dispute underscores the growing tension between the central opposition and local authorities in Madhya Pradesh.
