The Indian Air Force has earmarked a significant portion of airspace over western Rajasthan for training operations from Sept 21 to Oct 7, covering Jaisalmer, Barmer, Falodi, Jodhpur and the Nal‑Bikaner corridor.
New Delhi – The Indian Air Force (IAF) announced that it has reserved a substantial stretch of airspace in western Rajasthan for a series of training sorties scheduled between 21 September and 7 October. The designated zone spans the strategic corridors of Jaisalmer, Barmer, Falodi, Jodhpur and the Nal‑Bikaner region, allowing the service to conduct high‑intensity drills without civilian traffic interference.
The move is part of the IAF's routine readiness program aimed at honing operational capabilities in desert and semi‑arid environments. By securing the airspace, the force can practice air‑to‑air combat, low‑level navigation and precision strike missions under realistic conditions.
Local aviation authorities have been instructed to reroute commercial flights and issue NOTAMs to ensure safety. The exercise is expected to involve multiple squadrons and a mix of fighter and support aircraft, though specific unit details remain classified.
