Torrential rains caused the Mandakini river to overflow, flooding parts of Chitrakoot in Madhya Pradesh. Indian Air Force helicopters and three State Disaster Response Force teams were deployed to rescue stranded residents and shift them to safer locations.

Heavy rainfall in the region caused the Mandakini river to overflow, submerging low-lying areas of Chitrakoot town in Madhya Pradesh.

In response, the Indian Air Force dispatched helicopters to airlift stranded residents, while three State Disaster Response Force teams worked on the ground to evacuate people to higher ground and relief shelters.

Authorities set up temporary relief camps and provided essential supplies; by Saturday night, the water level in the Mandakini began to recede after the rains paused.

Officials noted that a dam breach in Uttar Pradesh had worsened the flood situation, but rescue efforts remained focused on the affected areas of Chitrakoot.
