The Himachal Pradesh government has announced a 78% salary hike for trainee doctors, boosting incentives for medical professionals in the state.
The Himachal Pradesh government today announced a 78% increase in the salary of trainee doctors across the state. The hike, effective from the next pay cycle, is aimed at attracting and retaining medical talent in the region.
Health officials said the new pay scale will significantly improve the financial prospects of doctors in training, many of whom have faced wage stagnation. The move is expected to reduce attrition and encourage more medical graduates to serve in rural and underserved areas.
Under the revised structure, trainee doctors will receive a higher basic pay along with enhanced allowances. The decision follows a review of the state’s medical workforce compensation framework.
A spokesperson for the Himachal Pradesh Health Department confirmed that the policy will be implemented in phases, with the first tranche of increased salaries rolled out next month.
