Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced the termination of outsourced nurse recruitment in Himachal Pradesh, moving to a direct hiring model for government health facilities.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu declared that Himachal Pradesh will no longer rely on outsourced agencies for recruiting nurses to its public health system. The announcement was made during a press briefing held in the state capital.
The government said the shift to direct recruitment is intended to enhance transparency, reduce procedural delays, and improve the overall quality of nursing staff serving in state hospitals and primary health centres.
Health department officials will draft and circulate new guidelines outlining the direct hiring process, eligibility criteria and selection procedures. Existing contracts with private recruitment firms will be gradually wound up as per a phased timeline.
The move is expected to streamline staffing, ensure better accountability and address long‑standing concerns about the adequacy of nursing personnel in Himachal's public health institutions.
