The Himachal Pradesh cabinet has approved a package of welfare measures that will extend maternity leave, provide financial assistance for education and launch a modernisation drive for the state’s healthcare system.
The Himachal Pradesh cabinet gave its nod to a suite of welfare initiatives aimed at bolstering social security and public services. The measures include an extension of maternity leave for government employees, additional financial support for students pursuing education, and a comprehensive modernisation plan for the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
Under the maternity‑leave proposal, eligible female staff will receive a longer period of paid leave, aligning the state’s policy with recent national recommendations on women’s workforce participation.
