The Madhya Pradesh High Court turned down a bail application filed by former judge Giribala Singh, who is implicated in the Tvesha Sharma case.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Thursday dismissed the bail plea of former judge Giribala Singh, who is facing charges in the high‑profile Tvesha Sharma case. The bench, presided over by Justice R.K. Sharma, noted that the petitioner had not satisfied the legal criteria for release pending trial.

Giribala Singh, a retired judge of the state’s civil court, was named in the investigation after allegations surfaced that he had abused his position to influence the outcome of the case involving Tvesha Sharma, a young woman whose disappearance sparked widespread media attention. The investigation, led by the state police, has been ongoing for several months.

The court’s rejection of the bail request underscores the seriousness with which the judiciary is treating the allegations against a former member of the bench. Legal experts said the decision sends a clear message that even senior legal officers are not immune from scrutiny. The matter will now proceed to trial, with the next hearing scheduled for early December.
