Indian Railways successfully completed the trial run of the six‑coach heritage train on the 9.5 km Patalpani‑Kalakund line, paving the way for tourist operations.

Indian Railways announced that the trial run of the heritage train connecting Patalpani and Kalakund was completed without any issues. The six‑coach service covered the 9.5 kilometre stretch, which winds through dense forest, waterfalls, tunnels and natural valleys, showcasing the region's scenic beauty.

The successful trial is a key step before the train is opened to the public. Officials indicated that the service is expected to commence shortly, targeting tourists seeking a unique rail experience in Madhya Pradesh.

The heritage line, part of the Indore railway network, aims to boost local tourism by offering a short yet picturesque journey. Railway authorities are finalising schedules and ticketing arrangements ahead of the launch.

Stakeholders, including the state tourism department, have welcomed the development, citing potential economic benefits for nearby communities and increased footfall to natural attractions along the route.

The trial also tested safety protocols in the challenging terrain, confirming that the train can safely navigate the region's tunnels and uneven tracks, thereby meeting the standards required for regular passenger operations.
